Abstract: »The introduction to this special issue reexamines the relationship between Cecily Chaumpaigne, the archive, and the field of Chaucer studies in light of the documentary discoveries revealed in Euan Roger and Sebastian Sobecki’s October 2022 special issue of this journal, The Case of Geoffrey Chaucer and Cecily Chaumpaigne: New Evidence. Using methodological approaches outlined by archival theorists who are women of color, such as Marisa Fuentes, Saidiya Hartman, and Julietta Singh, this introduction argues for the necessity of centering Cecily Chaumpaigne in her own right. It grapples with the role of the documentary archive in Chaucer studies as well as with the relationship between restoration and the archive.« (Source: The Chaucer Review)
